The Meeteetse Recreation District sponsors a mountain social run in the Wood River area. The race this year is Saturday, June 25, 2011. There are races for all abilities, so be part of something special.
Join us for our leisure type race ran on semi maintained road and progressing on to a nice two track for the longer races. We will be running on the historic Kirwin road nestled under 12,000 foot peaks. The Upper Wood River Valley will catch your eye at every turn so don't forget to bring your cameras. This race gives racers a chance to test lungs and legs at a healthy 7,000 to 8,000 foot elevation.

Meeteetse Absaroka Challenge Extreme Mountain Run
The Meeteetse Recreation District has a mountain race every year in the Timber Creek area. This years race is set for Labor Day Weekend, Saturday, September 3, 2011. There has been considerable excitement about this event and the location the last eight years. The Meeteetse Absaroka Challenge has been chosen to be part of the Trophy Series sponsored by Trail Runners Magazine. This is a must attend event. There is races for all abilities, so be part of something special.
The 5k, 10k race will run up the Timber Creek jeep trail which will be set up so the whole family will be able to participate. The 15k mountain run is an extreme race and not for the faint of heart. It continues up and around the mountain with a 2000' rise in altitude to around 9700'. Then through some of the most dramatic mountain scenery in all the Rocky Mountains. It concludes with a descent down a 1000' mountain face. According to local mountain running legend Fred Thomas and other participants from past races, it is one of the most RADICAL FINISHES around with the makings of a classic!
