Meeteetse Recreation District

Spring, 2008

MEETEETSE MOUNTAIN RUN CLASSICS
The Meeteetse Recreation District will offer two challenging mountain runs. Both of these runs include a 5k,10k, and a 15k distance with age divisions in both men's and women's categories. These awesome runs include T-shirts, post barbecue, and wonderful prize drawings and awards to division placers. The Wagon Box Social, which will be held on June 28th at 10:00am is located near the historical Kirwin gold mine.  What a beautiful location for a mountain run!

The Meeteetse Absaroka Challenge will be held on August 30th at 10:00am. This is an extreme run on a beautiful course, you can't ask for more. Runners will have a wonderful day. A post race barbecue will be held and we have great awards and prizes to give away. Participants will have stories and smiles as they explain the 1,000-ft. radical descent to the finish line. We had 37 runners from 7 states last year. The competition was incredible with the local runners fairing very well. This run is set up for great spectator viewing. Trail Runners Magazine has picked the Absaroka Challenge to be one of 120 mountain runs to be part of the trophy series. This means that a point system is in place and the runners with the most points in various age divisions win great prizes. Trail Runner magazine announces its 2006 TROPHY SERIES, a United States and
Canada point series of over 120 selected trail races (from March 1 to
September 30). All participants racing in the (RDs insert your race name
here) will be automatically entered in the Trophy Series. As 2006 title
sponsor, La Sportiva is offering a GRAND PRIZE PACKAGE that includes a trip
for two to the 2006 Dolomite Sky Race in Italy. The runner who completes the
most 2006 Trophy Series races will win the grand prize. PLUS, Trail Runner
will present 18 prize packages for the top point scorers. All racers
finishing a registered TROPHY SERIES race receive points in either of two
divisions: marathon and shorter distance (26.2 miles and shorter); or ultra
(longer than a marathon). Please visit www.trailrunnermag.com for details.
